Reporter: The city of Belém already has 53,003 beds available to host delegations attending COP30. Around 50,000 people are expected to travel to the capital of Pará between November 10 and 21. The accommodation plan includes a range of solutions to ensure the conference is broad in scope, inclusive, and accessible, according to Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President of COP30.
Corrêa do Lago: “Belém is an incredible city and the right place to host COP30—I’ve always said so. The government is working actively and decisively to ensure that all countries can participate. President Lula wants this to be a highly inclusive COP, which reflects Brasil’s own values. But we need to find ways to make participation possible, because as a developing country, Brasil naturally wants a COP that is truly inclusive.”
Reporter: The Brazilian government has already launched a platform offering 2,700 rooms for participants attending COP30, in addition to 2,500 individual rooms reserved for the 196 member countries. This initiative takes into account the specific accommodation needs of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
